Jerry Springer vs. The Church of Euthanasia Appeal to Pathos

The Church of Euthanasia used graphic images and language and carried a large cross in their attempts to appeal to the audience of Jerry Springer. They try to make the audience feel bad for eating animals when they are not the ones doing the killing of the animal. It is obvious that some of these beliefs appeal to some peoples’ pathos because they are either in of intend to join the cult, like the woman in the video. During Jerry Springers sit down with Grace who seeks to join the church, he appeals to the audience’s pathos by explaining the reality of suicide to show them how ridiculous the solutions to the church’s beliefs were. Recently, there have been other groups like The Church of Euthanasia that have made themselves very public. The Westboro Baptist Church are an anti-sematic homophobic hate group that protest their beliefs very directly. They became well known by sending emails and letters to colleges and protesting funerals around the Midwest. Even though there are some extremists, most are not nearly as aggressive. There are many religions that believe that abortion and the consumption of meat is wrong. Muslims do not believe in the consumption of beef; however, they do not shame other religions for not believing the same. We can argue that Jerry Springer was successful but the group from the church was unsuccessful and too aggressive in their tactics.
